Soft Tissue Fillers

Aka Wrinkle fillers.

A variety of wrinkle fillers, both synthetic and natural, are generally used to “plump up” or reduce wrinkles, furrows, and hollows in the face, giving the skin a smoother and more pleasing appearance. These fillers are effective at contouring specific areas of the face, such as around the lips and mouth, and correcting depressions and scars. Recent technological breakthroughs have created new synthetic and natural filler substances with fewer side effects like allergic reactions.

The filler products are designed for different purposes and effects. They are:

  1. for wrinkle correction and lip enhancements
  2. for correcting thin, superficial lines, for example around the eyes and mouth, forehead lines and smiles lines.
  3. shaping facial contours, such as cheeks and chin, correcting deep folds and for volume augmentation of the lips.
Optimal results can be maintained over a period of time by regularly repeating the treatment.

What are synthetic filler?

Synthetic fillers are derived from Aninal and Non-Animal Stablilised Hyaluronic Acid. They consist of complex sugar chains which have been stabilised for longer; lasting effect on the skin. It creates volume for the treatment of lips, lines, wrinkles and facial folds and you can see immediate results.

What to expect from the treatment ?

A trained dermatologist will determine the exact location to inject the fillers to achieve optimal results. Prior to the procedure, local anaesthetic creams and nerve blocks may be used to minimize discomfort. The whole treatment usually takes about 30mins. Restylane lasts up to approximately one year, depending on the areas being treated, the depth of the lines, the condition of the skin and the lifestyle of the individual. Most people return at 6 – 9 months for a top-up.

What are the side effects?

The side effects of synthetic fillers may include swelling, redness and occasional bruising. Other side effects may include minor lumps, itching or tenderness, which usually resolves quickly.
